2026 Edition Mallorca Jazz Sa Pobla

The Festival Mallorca Jazz sa Pobla reaches its thirty-second edition firmly established as one of the essential events in the jazz landscape of the Balearic Islands. With a programme combining major international figures, new talents and a wide range of parallel activities, the festival will once again turn sa Pobla into a meeting point for lovers of jazz, culture and creativity.

True to its established format, which has made it a landmark event, the festival returns to its iconic venues. The Plaça Major will host the opening concert; the Parc de Can Cirera Prim will once again serve as the main stage for the headline concerts in a natural setting that symbolises the festival’s connection to the landscape and agricultural heritage of the municipality; the Sa Congregació cultural centre will host the presentation of the Festival Mallorca Jazz sa Pobla Award and the jazz film screening, while the courtyard of Can Verdal will once again become the epicentre of the JAZZDARA series, dedicated to emerging jazz talent. The Plaça del Metge Duet will host a social dance event to explore the world of Lindy Hop and swing rhythms. Crestatx, a historic and symbolic site and the cradle of sa Pobla, will bring together jazz and glosa.

The festival’s founding values remain fully alive. The programme is committed to artistic quality, innovation and diversity, championing jazz as an open language in constant evolution and dedicated to creative freedom. This edition commemorates the centenary of the birth of Miles Davis, one of the most influential figures in the history of jazz, whose legacy inspires much of the 2026 programme.

Despite economic challenges, the festival, produced by the Ajuntament de sa Pobla, continues thanks to the firm support of institutions and organisations such as the Consell de Mallorca, the Institut d’Estudis Baleàrics, the Fundació Guillem Cifre de Colonya and the hotel group JS Hotels.

This year, the festival also strengthens its social commitment. Part of the concert proceeds will go towards research into FOXG1 syndrome, a rare neurological condition. Through this initiative, the Festival Mallorca Jazz sa Pobla aims to support scientific research and the families affected.

The official image of the 32nd edition is the work of Albert Pinya, a Mallorcan artist with an international profile. His visual world, vibrant and rich in symbolism, aligns fully with the festival’s values: creativity, innovation, diversity and freedom of expression.

From 28 July to 20 August, sa Pobla will breathe jazz once more with a programme bringing together some of the most outstanding proposals of the current scene. The opening concert, free and held at the Plaça Major, will present New Sketches of Spain, with Erik Truffaz and Antonio Lizana leading an octet that revisits one of the most iconic works of Miles Davis and Gil Evans. The second headline concert will arrive at the Parc de Can Cirera Prim with China Moses, one of the great voices of contemporary jazz, capable of fusing jazz, soul and rhythm & blues with an extraordinary artistic personality.

The programme will continue with Blau Salvatge, the project led by Mallorcan vibraphonist Joan Pérez-Villegas, which explores new languages between jazz, chamber music and Mediterranean traditions. The festival will close with Lucía Rey Cuarteto, one of the most outstanding ensembles in new Spanish jazz, presenting Nómadas, a project combining contemporary jazz, Mediterranean folklore and new sonic textures. Recently recognised with one of the awards given by Plataforma Jazz España as part of a selection of the country’s finest musical projects.

The Festival Mallorca Jazz sa Pobla will continue to champion new creators through the JAZZDARA series. Across several evenings, the courtyard of Can Verdal will bring together some of the most interesting emerging proposals of the moment with concerts by Fran Ramos Quartet, Goran Levi Quartet and Tomeu & Joan Garcias Quartet, cementing this space as a platform for discovering the future of jazz.

This edition also introduces new activities that broaden the festival experience. GLOJAZZADA will bring together jazz and improvised glosa in a dialogue between tradition and contemporaneity; JAZZET will introduce jazz to the youngest audiences with a family day full of workshops and participatory activities at the Museu de Can Planes; and SA POBLA LINDY JAZZ CONNEXIÓ will turn the Plaça del Metge Duet into a large open-air dance floor with live music, workshops and swing.

The festival will also include the presentation of the book Sketches of Catalonia by Pere Pons, a talk dedicated to the centenary of Miles Davis, and the screening of the film Köln 75, about the history of Keith Jarrett’s legendary concert that gave rise to The Köln Concert.

The Festival Mallorca Jazz sa Pobla 2026 Award will be presented to journalist and music critic Ferran Pereyra, in recognition of his long career in jazz journalism and his ties to the festival. To coincide with this tribute, visitors will be able to see at the Parc de Can Cirera Prim the photographic exhibition Stolen Moments, a selection of images captured by Pereyra himself at jazz festivals around the world.

The Festival Mallorca Jazz sa Pobla continues to grow without losing its essence: offering world-class music, supporting emerging creators, creating spaces for artists and audiences to meet, and demonstrating, once again, that jazz is far more than music: it is culture, dialogue and commitment.
